Everest Base Camp refers to one of two high-altitude staging points used by climbers to summit Mount Everest: the South Base Camp in Nepal (5,364m) or the North Base Camp in Tibet (5,150m). The Nepal side is more commonly known and is the destination of the famous Everest Base Camp trek from Lukla, which passes through Sherpa villages and Buddhist monasteries, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
